During the visit we conduct a straight-out examination of the teeth and oral cavity. The dentist will examine whether the condition of teeth of the patient is good enough to carry out the whitening. All defects and dental caries should be pre-cured and properly dressed. What is more, contraindication for this kind of treatment may be also the poor condition of the gums. If your gums are bleeding when you floss or brush your teet hit may be treated as a sign of inflammation, which requires a predetermined dental treatment. Satisfying effect of teeth whitening should be carried out only before a professional teeth cleaning in the clinic, which includes ultrasonic scaling and sandblasting. This treatment allows to get rid of any plaque and amend the dental tissues to be more prepared to bleaching.
Currently, there are two possible methods of teeth whitening:
- Teeth whitening lamp – this method gives more spectacular effects. The entire procedure takes approximately 1.5 hour. The neck of the tooth and the gums are protected by a special rubber cover, protected from the whitening product. Application of whitening gel during the treatment is performed triply. Light from a special lamp is designed in such a way that it activates the whitening gel. The advantage of this method is the speed of the effect. Immediately after the visit, we can expect the effect of snow white teeth.
- Teeth whitening overlays – a method designed for the more forbearing patients. After taking dental impressions in the clinic, they are sent to the dental laboratory, where individual silicone overlays are prepared. After a few days the dentist can check the correctness of such overlay in the office. The patient applies a special gel to the overlays, which concentration is lower from one that is used during the teeth whitening with the laser. Overlay should be used in the night, generally, the process takes approximately from 10 to 14 days.
A very effective form of teeth whitening is a combination of those two methods. After the laser treatment, the patient receives additional whitening overlays. This allows the stabilization of the whitening effect. The patient can also use overlays after a couple of years, when the effect obtained previously is no longer so clear.
